Francis Duku

Founder and CEO

Francis is the Founder and CEO of "Our Game" having first been an ex semi-professional footballer with nearly 20 years playing experience.

From an early age, he was able to represent school, district and county football teams as well as various other levels of the school boy game to a high enough standard to allow him to start dreaming about making a career within the professional game.

Having joined the youth team of Reading FC at the relatively late age of 17, he went on to quickly become youth team captain while still in the unusual position for that level of football of combining full time education with playing in the YTS team. This resulted in gaining A-level qualifications to a good enough standard to gain entry to a leading redbrick university, but unfortunately falling marginally short in being offered a professional contract. Instead of starting a professional career at 18 as had been the target, it was the start of a non league career that was managed alongside gaining a university degree and a city based finance career.

Within the world of non league football, Francis went on to play for a range of clubs throughout the non league pyramid such as Ebbsfleet, Crawley Town, Dulwich Hamlet, Bromley, Lewes, Kingstonian and Staines Town to name a few, making over 500 appearances, which resulted in winning a league title, multiple local, regional and county cups, three promotions, representative honours (including degrees of England recognition), captaining several sides, and selection for touring squads to countries such as Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Gambia and Tanzania, and being linked with moves into various levels of the professional game right up until the age of 28.

Since retiring from football, Francis has gone on to launch the "Our Game" and ASPSU service, taken several positions working independently for The FA, worked extensively for both Kick It Out and Show Racism the Red Card, is part of the Non League Day organising team and has taken a board position with the charity Safer London.
